Man Killed in Crash had left the Scene of an Earlier Crash

A Lafayette man that was killed in a car crash on Monday, had fled the scene of another crash in Delphi, police said.

The driver suffered fatal injuries when his Dodge pickup truck went off the road and crashed into many trees. He was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth Medical Center shortly after arriving.

Officials say they smelled alcohol at the scene but there is currently no further information about toxicology testing or blood-alcohol levels.

Police report, 20 minutes prior to the crash, the driver was involved in another crash and had fled the scene.
