Three Crashes - Three Fatalities

Christina ColeFebruary 28, 2007 12:24 AMThree unrelated car accidents in Lafayette and Evangeline parishes on Tuesday ended in three fatalities, all which are being investigated by state police.
Just after midnight Tuesday, a hit and run accident left a 19-year-old man dead.
Troopers say Carrera was traveling in his pickup when an 18-wheeler was trying to cross Johnson Street. The 18-wheeler pulled into the path of Carrera's truck which caused him to run off the road into a ditch and flip over. The driver of the 18-wheeler fled the scene.
Carrera was taken to Lafayette General medical Center where he did as a result of his extensive injuries. A search is ongoing for the driver of the 18-wheeler.
In Evagline Parish, at 12:24am, a 31-year old woman was killed after a 19-year-old man struck her with his vehicle, said state police.
Gallow was walking westbound in the eastbound lane when she was hit by a pick up truck. The driver was intoxicated at the scene and arrested. She died from her injuries.
Later at 5:58am, a Lafayette man was hit and killed by a car as he tried to cross the interstate.
Police say the 23-year-old man was crossing the intersection when a car swerved to avoid hitting him but was unable too. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
